Red face Time for a rear end rebuild

Well, the back end of my '83 300SD is beginning to show the signs of aging. Starting to sag and is wallowing badly when going over bumps. Soooooo.....

-New shocks
-New springs
-New control arm bushings
-New RR control arm (has rust at shock mount)
-New rear subframe mounts

Might as well throw front shocks on there while I've got her laid up for a while.

You know it's just so nice to have a car like this that hardly demands any attention except for regular maintenance. So at 253K I am quite obliged to rebuild the suspension.

Bought it for a song from a customer last May and have done over 20K troublefree miles since. Forget the ML320, this car has my heart for the daily grind!

Just curious, are you getting a"thumping" noise yet, when/if you load or unload the drivetrain rapidly. My 190D is starting to do this, though it still feels tight in the suspension dept, though if it were an auto and not a stick I think the first signs of this would still be a ways off.

It's do for shocks, so I will change those out. I think I will take a close look at the rear subframe bushings, as my XJ6 had similar problems when the "metalastics" were worn out.
