Injector Knock to Engine Loping/Miss
1987 190 Dt
Hello, I recently changes out my injectors due to them knocking loudly, but the engine was smooth. I changed them out with rebuilt ones and now the engine has a lope or miss. The engine shakes and it has an audible miss from the exhaust. It is very quite running know but has the lope. I changed out both fuel filters and this made no change. I did notice that my old injectors all had the same # in the 400 range and the rebuilt all have this 135 # on them. Does this # mean anything or can I have bad rebuild's??? Any help appreciated!!! |

LEt's see,
Yes you can have bad rebuilt injectors. It's not that uncommon-even with Bosch rebuilt injectors. Must admit, I have not had a problem with spray pattern-but Stu RItter owned a shop in Colorado, and had made comments to this effect. Lope- Lope if the engine is running correctly, is due to compression or the injectors are not popping at the same pressure. Bosch spec is + or - 5 bars. Mercedes spec is deviation for an engine should not exceed 5 bars. I'm guessing the 135# number is probably 135 bars, which would be the nominal pop pressure for the injector. Injectors need to pop at the correct pressure and have a good spray pattern for even combustion. I'd crack injector lines one at a time to find your bad injector. Michael

Sorry,
Note that the bosch spec is twice as large for an injector as what mercedes recommends for a set of injectors. People do talk that a matched set of injectors (1-2bars) will result in very little engine shake. Michael

Thanks for the info! I figured that it had to be the injectors. It ran smooth before, it was just way too loud.
