Are you getting it to have an all steel beautiful road car which can carry more than a sedan.. and is more stable than a 747 out on the road that likely gets 25 miles per gallon and might keep you from having to buy some cheap but expensive short lasting new car which would require payments and collision insurance and not look classy ? Or are you buying it for resale ?
Typically that car in fair to good condition, but repairable... would go for less than $2000... sometimes much less....

Leathermang,

Would be buying it to keep for just as you mentioned in the first part of your reply. I did get in touch with the owner, he wants $3000 for the car. He said it has a stuck sunroof, low/leaking strut on the RR, key broken off in the hatchback and has a vacuum leak that caused the AC/heat system to default to defrost (normal, I think). Says he uses it for road trips and runs/shifts great. Don't know, have to think about it.

Any comments??

Jerry

If you have the $3000 cash, start watching Ebay and the local papers... and post on this forum in the cars section... saying you are looking for a wagon .....
The suspension could be a problem cost of fixing wise... why has he not picked the key of the rear lock ? LOL
If the engine had a good compression check... and with it non turbo.. I don't think I would offer over $1200.
Does the air conditioner work ?

Leathermang,
Yes, I have the cash to pay for the car, got SHMBO's OK to buy but said offer $2500. From your and some of the others replies, that is too much. I didn't specifically ask if the AC works, he said "everything" works but the items mentioned in my earlier post. Car has 217K miles. Think I will do as you suggested and wait for a turbo wagon. Anyone have one for sale?

Thanks for all inputs, much appreciated!!!!!

Leathermang,
Are you pulling my leg or or what (just kidding)? SWMBO translates into She Who Must Be Obeyed!!!! I think most of us has one of those! Also, I wondered where she was disapearing to for long periods of time, she was with Rleo!

So, does anyone have a 300TD for sale? Would prefer to buy from a forum member vs Slick Joe's car lot.
Thanks

I think Jerry Goodman still has one for sale in Ft. Worth. A bit spendy though, but probably a good one.

Check out www.europeanmotorcarsltd.net click on "showroom" and scrool down until you find it.

Paul,
Thanks for the tip, I agree, it's a bit pricey. I am holding out for a 3 seat wagon, maybe something needing a bit of attention. I can do mechanical, don't want to deal with rust.
Thanks
