Hi,

Just wondering if anyone knows of a U-pull recycler that has 123 mercedes (e30 BMWs also a plus). Must be in the DE, MD, PA, NJ area.

Thanks!

JMH

If you are in the Baltimore area stop by Crazy Rays,
(8125 Washington Blvd/Rte. 1, (410)799-6630)
which is bigger than (6101 Erdman Av (410)488-6650)
I'm pretty sure you'll have to drive there and pay $1
admission to find out if they have what you want.
They get many 123's in but they get stripped of good
parts quickly, if you get there first= Bring your tools
and cash.

An admission fee? To a junkyard? You have got to be kidding.

Ya that was a new idea too me also. I went to one north of Seattle last weekend, same deal $1.00 to get in, sorta like an amusement park for motor heads. It was well worth it for the cheap parts I got and they even supply wheel barrows

It's sort of in the NJ area....

Wander around the Hunts Point area of the Bronx. Everything you can imagine. Most of the places are only semi-u-pull, but I've never had a problem wandering around them after talking the the owners and letting them know what I sort of looking for. And haven't had an admission fee yet.

There are three yards in the Crazy Ray chain around Baltimore.
One is in Chase, MD--turnover is slow, three 123 diesels in the yard , 2-300turbos and 1 240. Engines are present in all three. Cars are not too picked over. There is one with very good blue interior--at least until the rain ruins it because the sunroof is open.
Yard number 2 is on Erdman Ave just off US 40--NE side of town. Very rapid turnover--Mercedes last about a week. Two months ago there were about 6 123 cars, last week only 2 and both euro models ( cloth interior).

Yard number 3 is on the SW side of town on Washington Blvd. I have not been to this one so I can't comment.

All three charge $1 to enter and make you sign a waiver.

My son and I went over to the Crazy Ray's on Washington Blvd., actually down near 32. It's about halfway between Baltimore and DC. I hadn't been to a junk yard in decades. It was interesting, and a real mess. All the rain we've been having over the last few months have taken their toll. Water and mud everywhere. We pulled a few small parts that we were able to get to easily, but are going to need to go back and get them to jack one of the cars up to get to the bottom and check out the drivetrain. The rain has really messed up some interiors. It seems like almost every car with a sunroof has it open when they get hit.

Anyway, I'm hoping that the weather can clear up for a few days so we can go back in and get a couple of other items. This one did have a few 126's, but they were pretty well picked over. And no later model ones. I wanted a headlight trim for my 87 SDL, but no joy. Did get one for the 82, however.

I was there today. It seems the inventory has not
changed much in the last two months. Everything
is more stripped of parts and the puddles were very
deep, fly fishing boots would be a good idea if you
have a pair. I did notice something of potential
interest: a 240d with a manual trans still in tact
for a couple months now. They said it would cost
$75 for the trans. There is no way to test it and
getting it out of the mud would not too easy, but
I thought somebody would be interested.
I would get a quote b-4 driving there.

Yes, I saw the 240D. With all the mud and the puddles, I finally decided to take the small parts from one of the 300SDs, look at what else was available and ask before investing any work in anything there. I didn't want to wrestle with the mud, so I got quotes on a couple of parts so that I can come back and get (hopefully in nicer weather with less water and mud).
