Lost my lights and my clock

Hey Guys,
I recently was advised that the taillamp lights (the ones that burn when your headlights are on) were out. The brake lights, reverse lights, turn signals, and the license plate light all work fine. I've switched the bulbs from right to left and nothing happens. Will try to get two replacement bulbs and see if it works BUT, coincidence or not, at the same time I noticed my clock in the dashboard is no longer keeping time. Could these two things be related?? I mean everything on the car worked fine one day and BAM! both of these things stop working. Any guidance is appreciated as I'm not completely handy with these cars yet...but getting there.

Thanks!

fuses? even if they 'look' ok sometimes they aren't and need to be replaced. i am sure some of the fuses in my car are original!

Luvmy......

Find which fuse is the problem from the fuse chart. Rotate that fuse back and forth in the fuse socket until it works again.

The lead fuses with out an enclosure that MB uses get corroded between the lead fuse and the brass socket. Rotating them will usually solve the problem.

what peh said is a method i have used as well to get stuff to work. i could add that the metal contact on the very tips of the fuses at each end sometimes get worn through to the ceramic thereby making no or intermittant connection. since it is on the end of the fuse and not on the side it is sometimes very difficult to see/diagnose this as the cause of a failed connection. you will need to examine the fuse carefully.

Thanks fellas! We're about to have a monstrous storm so I'll rotate them as soon as it's over. I did notice when looking at the fuse box that 1) it's VERY clean for being under the hood and 2) the original "spare" fuses refered to in my owners manual are still there as well. Looks like I may not have to buy any after all. I'll let you know......

If you use the spares, then go buy some more and keep them in the car. They usually blow on a Suday night when all the parts stores are closed and you need to get somewhere.

I like where the fuse box is on the 126's but sure hate those fuses, sure would be nice if there were some way to convert box to plug in fuses...........
