I may be in the market for a 602.962 engine for my '91.

Cracked piston and cylinder wall after a fine week of ownership.

Does anybody know this california company. I believe they offer engines for many makes..

jjalex,

I have not heard of the company you found but I have heard of the following outfit:

http://www.mercedesengines.net/300s.htm

They are Metric Motors, Inc and I believe they are one of the only places that is specifically specialized on Mercedes engines. Their prices are about the same and I am pretty sure my local dealer uses them as a source. They offer a pretty comprehensive warranty as part of the deal too.

Good luck! You should be in for a little after this experience. Jim

Thanks Jim. I just spoke with Metric Motors and they don't have that engine in stock. I would have to send mine to them for rebuilding. With the cylinder head in question it could cost almost $7k, plus shipping.

I think I will try to unload the car. Its a real shame since the rest of it is so nice....

Thank goodness for my W123 diesel! Maybe I should just look for another good one.
