Nice car but it's probably a Northeaster Rust Bucket (Boston)

I'm trying to decide if those metal clips on the top of the radiator have been repainted - along with the rest of the car.

For my part it seems better to buy cars from south of me (or local) than to the north. The exception to that rule is FLA and Louisiana, for various reasons.

I don't think W124's rust nearly as much as the 116, 123, and 126.

Ken, what's wrong with buying FL or LA cars?

It looks pretty nice.

See the fine print? This is the part I love: A $99 'Dealer fee' will be added to the price of the car. What bull$hit. I've seen this scam up to $250 on Ebay. What's the 'conveyance/dealer/pizza for the mechanics' fee? It's FREE BONUS MONEY for the seller! What a load!

A considerable part of FLA has salt spray / fog issues causing rust and corrosion. Besides that, if you take delivery of a car in FLA, you pay FLA sales tax.

A good portion of Louisiana gets flooded, so lots of flood damage cars come from that area.

So many good states to buy from, so I just ignore the problem areas.

Just an opinion......

Just a thought

Ya know, I still wanna get my hands on a Euro 240 D w Manual tranny. A welcome contrast to my 126. And (I may get in touble for saying this) it just might outlast my 126.

Different color but the same car as I have. Mine is a New Jersey car with no rust. If the car was taken care of this shouldn't be a problem (garaged, maintained and driven). Probably needs a good long highway run. The low mileage suggests short trips.
need to check if the trap oxidizer was replaced. If not I think you can get a new one compliments of MBZ. This also includes the turbo I think.

Angry More Fine Print

Looking at an MB on Ebay #2418385971 and noticed the fine print- guess these guys want more than pizza:

Fee and Tax Information: Buyer is responsible for paying taxes in their home state. All bidders must have preapproved loans and financing, or must be able to pay cash or certified funds. Bidders paying with credit cards are subject to additional charges. ALL bidders must add a $300 processing fee to the final bid.

Been living near and in La. for almost seven years and haven't seen a flood yet.

They do have swamp people though

Ken, I just picked up a car in FL and brought CT temporary plates with me. CT supposedly credit the taxes you pay to FL but I didn't what the bureaucratics to frustrate me when I applied for the credit.

Hey JPL...you know that you can get a USA Spec 240D with the 4spd right?!?! I have one, and I would much rather have the US spec car with leather and the electric moonroof than the Eurospec with the weenie bumpers and the cloth seats. However, the 300D is obtainable in Euro form with a 4 or even 5 spd stick tranny. Look into that, they are great, I drove one once!
