I'm wondering what other people use to haul extra stuff for long vacations or camping.
I'm considering a small sport trailer also what is the towing weight for a 85 w123.

Also, I have a small trailer for sale if your intrested. Would need smaller tires to match your car but otherwise it would work great.

Trailer has hinged lid thus it is "weather tight" and it has a tie down rack on top for additional gear. Could be converted to be a small pop up camper EASILY.

Trailer pulling capacity depends on the hitch..... typical ratings are 1500 or 2,000 lbs.

Battered old trailers can be gotten for $350, figure another 100 for the hitch....... approximately same price as Thule roof rack & basket for soft luggage.

Advantages of trailer include ability to haul motorcycles, engine blocks, trash to the dump, etc....... and you can rent pop-top camping trailer for Summer vacation, after having 2,000 lb hitch installed.

Get yourself a 5X8 utility trailer with a tilt-deck or a drop gate. If you don't own a truck you won't know how you did without it. Haul couches, fridges, plywood, camping gear, canoes/small boats, damned near everything! 300D should have no problem pulling up to 2K. Make really sure your brakes are tip-top 100% and consider another inline transmission cooler if you tow in the hills. Tongue weight should be at 5%-10% of total trailer weight and the trailer will tow nice and straight. 5X8's can be had for $650-$850 depending on manufacturer. RT

I bought a 4x8 foot trailer I put together myself. It was $300 then I figure another $100 in wood and hardware (nuts, bolts and lockwashers, no nails). It's not one of those fold in half ones, its actually the big brother of them. It has 12" wheels and is rated for 1800lbs. I use it primarilly for tent camping when the kids used up the interior cargo space. I had no problem getting a hitch for the car and it tows it just fine.
