How about this mystery.

The automobile in question is '87 300 TD.
I has been raining here for a month.
So I load about 250 lb. in the back of the car and am looking forward to seeing how thwe self leveling is functioning.
Start the car, drive a couple of miles, look at the guages and notice that the anti lock light is lit. A minute later I hear/feel and little click and the tack stops functioning and th AC stops putting out cold air.

Check fuses they all appear OK.
Changed 1 I think it was 7.

Park the car.

Next day same story.

Park the car.

2 or 3 days later no symptoms.

Take it to my tech, he looks at the fuses says I have to leave it.

A week later it rains again, and it all happens again.

Next day no problem.

What on Gods green earth is going on?

Thanks in advance.

From prior experience with a 1986 190E and a 1987 300E, the antilock light on, the tach not working, and the AC not working indicate a low voltage condition. But I'm surprised that you didn't discover a dead battery on the next starting attempt.

You say this happens when it rains. Does your car have the plastic shield in place under then engine bay? If not, then water may be getting in there and causing the serpentine belt to slip. Or the water may be getting into some electrical connections.

I think this condition might happen if the Over-voltage protection relay is not working, or its fuse on top of it...The OVP relay located behind the battary very close to th klima relay (ACC relay)...check the fuse if Ok, you need to check the relay itself...

the OVP relay feeds the ABS system and the desiel electronic system (EDS) which gives signal (voltage) to both the Klima (ACC relay) and the tachometer at the dash....the klima activates the air conditioner compressor...

OVP relay was responsible.
Thanks to all.
