Talking new owner

Im the proud owner of a 1991 300D as of about two weeks now and could not be happier. The car had 85000 miles, one owner, all maintenance records, etc. I'm sure you have heard it before, but its true. This site has been an invaluable resource for learning about my Benz. Thank You! I do have a couple of questions that I could not gather clear answers on from searches.
Anyone know of a service place in the Rome Georgia area? If I want to do minor maintenance and interior/exterior fixing (all major stuff to mechanic) are the CD manuals the bast way to go? What is the best option to add CD capability? It appears that there are 6 speakers (dash, driver door & rear deck) all original equipment. Regards, David

300 D

Welcome to the forum, there is more info here than any CD, but I had the CD's before and did not like them, I use Hayes manual, or MB manual are the best, check Ebay there are some from time to time. Also check www.crutchfield.com for car audio. Ususlly easy installation. Change to Mobil Delvac and drive forever...

Welcome!!

I drove a 1992 300D 2.5 Turbo a few weeks back as a loaner car and that definitely was a great car! Lots of power (torque rather), smooth transmission, good handling.. just nice.

Regarding the stereo, I have a 95 E420. I don't know how different the setup is but I think the sound system is really not that bad at all! I know that the headunit is different but they both have the same amount of speakers. I guess if you want to keep the OEM look, you could buy a CD-Changer. You don't have to buy a Mercedes changer I think. Try the Car Audio forum.

Otherwise try an Alpine headunit - ive heard nothing but good things about them.

as to CD Manuals. I have the E-Class Owner's Bible. it's pretty good for maintenance stuff. But if you want to do more, I'd suggest the Haynes repair manual or the MB Service CD's.

Rome is close enough to Atlanta that you should be going to MBAutowerks. They're the owners of this site. See the big banner at the top of the page.
