Parallel flow condensor...
 

I just received my parallel flow condensor from AC kits and will have it installed within the next couple of days or so.

My car has been converted to 134 and I need just a bit more coolness here in S. Florida. It works fine on the open road and it's not really that bad in stop and go. However, I have decided to use my daily driver as the guinea pig for the parallel flow condensor retro fit as it has some good reviews on other sites.

I have tried to find someone locally who would reverse convert it, bacjk to R-12, but have had no success. Hence the new condensor. Ac kits claims you will have 30% increased performance over the stock unit.

Wishful thinking?

What unit, exactly, did you buy? And what vehicle are you putting it on?

I wanna do this to my 300CD but I need to replace the compressor, high side hose, and the TX valve too.... now I just need a place to do it... :rolleyes:

I purchased condensor model #12-0438C. It measures 14 by 24, which is the biggest I could fit on my 1985 SD.

I'll probably take it in on Monday.

I'm absolutely amazed that you could not find anyone to reverse convert. Where do you live in Florida? I think that's where I need to open my auto a/c shop.

He lives in Miami. Unless your spanish is good, you might want to consider moving to Sarasota instead (other coast). Lots of Benzes here, many of them 123 bodies as well. Plus we have a local MB Club of America here. In November they are putting on a car show on St. Armands circle. If I can get my 280 repainted by then, I will see about showing it there.
Don't know if it would help business wise, but we have no state income tax either.

Reverse convert

I was going to reverse convert back to r12 but got to thinking even with the flush, flush and then flush some more that some of the old oil "may" remain in the deep dark corners of my system and have a party with some water that did the same just waiting to jump out and set all the r12 free after eating a hole through a part that would take a week to get to:D
That besides price was one reason I went with the duracool stuff a year or so ago. It will run with any oil so flushing the system was not an issue when I got rid of the 134a and ran a good 3 hour E-vac to make sure all was good and dry. When I was doing a friends car last week with a rented pump I was thinking I may reverse to r12 but decided "it was not broke so don't mess with it". I didn't remember if PAG was ok with r12 or not and was not about to find out the hard way what would happen if it mixed with mineral oil.

If I find someone to reverse convert it, what kind of oil should I make sure they are using?

I plan on trying another place or two before I go ahead and use 134 again.

A little ester left in there after flushing, will not hurt in an R12 system any more than it would in a 134 system, or even with any of the snake oil alternative refrigerants.

Mineral oil is what is used with R12.
