Chris W. -
Mityvac came out with their version of the power bleeder called The Shooter. I have been using it for a while now and like the feature that it can fill brake master cylinders on the bench and back-flush the clutch slave cylinder. It squirts fluid down the lines but does not screw on the cap of the reservoir in the way the Power Booster does. BTW - there is an outfit selling the Power Booster at $5 less than Motive Products - Check out: http://www.importpartsspec.com/shop/mall/tools.asp Any of these tools are good for car maintenance. Some are better than others, as full time mechanics will tell you, but they usually cost more than the little Mity Vac, it is a handy device in its own way. That said, I have to admit that I put my Mity Vac on the shelf too, for vacuum troubleshooting only. Pressure feeding brake systems is faster and easier. I did previously say I fired my mech..
PEH, $50 is for the pre-filter and cannister. Of course, I don't have the pre-filter (I know, a little screen) changed each time I have the cannister changed. Parts end up at $28.
I could change the fuel filter on this car while wearing a suit in front of my office and probably not get dirty. I am guilty of --- laziness in this dept, I guess. I really felt stupid when I found out how easy it is to change out the MAS. Glow plugs though----I have read enough past threads not to want to wrestle with the intake manifold, or have to 'ream' out the receiving holes. Maybe if you are passing through Mississippi one weekend..... Thanks for your encouragement. I have been educating myself and will attempt the maintenance next time needed. |
