A/C Orings/Seals Etc

83 300 D Turbo. I've going to tackle the A/C system in this car. It's already been 134 converted but leaks. I want to pick up an Oring/seal kit for virtually any coupling as I begin the process of leak chasing. Does the www.ackits.com 's site foriegn kit have all I might need? What oil is compatible with r12 and r134? I am thinking to go back to r12 if the leaks are found and fixed. What's the best way to chase leaks, UV or sniffer? Would I be better off with a professional chasing the leaks for me? The car is essentially OK but unusable in the heat.
Thanks.

The 0-ring kit from ackits does cover the Benz. It's the Japanese cars that have odd sizes.

Good luck,

O-ring

Just picked up the pack of assorted green o-rings from Autozone. Its made by Santech Automotive AC components. Description as follows

Green HNBR O-Ring MT0841 26125
GM Captive O-Ring Assortment
upc 780250010034

Autozone Part # 147314 26125

Price $1.29 each pack.

Each pack contains 12 o-rings.

It will replace 2 rings on Receiver drier, and 4 rings on expansion valve( two are same and 2 are different size on expansion valve).

A NEW compressor comes with its o-rings so I dont need them and I am not touching the fitting on on condensor. So I am, basically done. I had a leak at expansion valve and no other leak.
I had detected the leak using a green colored dye. that is highly visible with naked eyes.
When the manager showed me the stock of o-rings for ford, chrysler and GM etc cars, I saw a lots of them in different sizes and the most exp were some large o-rings about 3 bucks for 2 rest all were less than that. Take your old rings to compare the sizes and bear in mind that old rings are flattened and are streched a bit because of the age and pressure they were under. Also they were thinner than the green o-rings but thats ok.

Hope this helps.
