How to do motor mounts on SDL or 603 engine?

If there is a section in the shop manual that covers this (the 126 manual), I can't find it.

I supposed that the entire operation is similar to the 123 manul;

- unbolt mount from below
- unbolt engine shock
- unbolt accelerator linkage (appears to be a single bolt connecting two halves of the shaft between the IP and the firewall)
- raise engine from the lower oil pan
- remove old, put in new with blue dots forward

Is there anything else? Anyone have any pointers? Or is it hiding in the 126 manual off the index?

There is no section 22-211 for the 603. There is one for the 103 but it's the W124 procedure which doesn't apply to the W126. Growing story short, use the 300SD procedure. Obviously the linkage and hoses and stuff will be different.

If your radiator has a plastic neck, drain or siphon enough fluid so you can detach the upper hose from the radiator while you tilt the engine. Maybe unclip the fan shroud as well to be safe.

I did the SDL when the head was off so I can't comment on access. I did the SE mostly from below which I think is a given on the passenger side of the SDL.

I don't think there's much to it. Don't load the side extension case of the sump. Position the shields so you have access to the allen head bolts. Check the condition of the bushings at the top engine shock mounts.

VERY simple. The only thing remotely difficult about it is the passenger side inner most bolt is a little tricky to get at.

Removing the throttle linkage is unnessisary.. I didn't remove/unhook anything. Be sure to put a piece of wood between your jack and oil pan, obviously.

Blue dots? Uh oh.

Well, I don't have that one anymore anyway.

update on original post

So it went pretty well, much easier than on engine 617 (the throttle linkage really does not need to be removed, there is a nice ball joint on the end of the throttle that allows rotation up/lifting of the engine). Reassembly and alignment of the bolts went really easy (surpriningly).

The passenger side mount has some pretty rough access, probably explains why that mount was %50 thinner than the easy to get at left side mount.

Also, each MB models seem to have their own unique problems, it looks like the 603 might have one in regard to the engine shock mounts - one of mine was totally broken apart, the other was well cracked. Somewhat like my other pet peeve on the 617 engine - the air filter mount- a real easy to break part.
