Vibration btw 55-65km/hr speeds

My 1977 123 series 240-D vibrates a little between 55 - 65 km/hr speeds in 4th gear manual shift ( at around 40 in 3rd gear). This vibration is so brief that is often not noticed/felt by the passenger but nags me. I replaced all 4 tyres, both the drive-shafts, flexdiscs, u-joint and the center bracket and its bearing over a period of 6-months but there is no change in the vibration pattern or the speed at which the car starts to vibrates.

Any suggestion on how to get rid of this annoying vibration.

Obaid

If the vibration is engine speed related, I'd check engine and tranny mounts first. There is also a vibration damper on the front of the 240 you need to check, it may have separated.

By now you can just about assume all the mounts are bad, they only last ten years or so -- I've gotten to the point they are on the list of things I expect to replace on an older benz without bothering to look.

Thanks fellas for the help, however I replaced both engine and tranny mounts and the tie rods in the process in the last 6-months or so. I will check the vibration damper as suggested by psfred (Peter) in a next 2 or 3 days.

How about the flywheel or the pressure plate or the clutch plate? Could they be culprit causing vibration? Is it possible for the flywheel to be off-balance?

More likely engine vibration that resonates at particular engine speeds. You don't, I believe, have an engine shock (although I think you can retrofit one). If you have a weak cylinder from needing a valve adjust, or a bad nozzle, etc, it can buzz at certain speeds. Get the idle as close to perfect as you can, and it'll get less, but you may never be able to completely eliminate it.

All diesels have more vibration than gassers, the fours especially.
