85 300D-Post AC Compressor changeout. Why no A.C., just heat?
I just replaced the compressor on 85 300D and loaded it with 134, all by procedure.
I'm not getting any Air Conditioning. I'm just getting heat, even though I can hear the Compressor "click" when I set the Climate Controls. Can anyone tell me what I did wrong or what is going on? 85 300D-Post AC Compressor changeout. Why no A.C., just heat? |

Carrameow,
To verify that the a/c portion is working, feel of the low side line coming out of the firewall to see that it is cool. Then, pull the top off of the mono valve near the battery to see if it is "flooded." I expect that you will find the monovalve "flooded." If so, then you are getting coolant through the heater core all the time. The temperature of your a/c system is regulated by the automatic climate control unit via the monovalve. The a/c system runs basically all the time, but the temperature is regulated by the amount of coolant allowed through the monovalve to the heater core. You can buy a repair kit for the heater core for about $35. It takes about five minutes to change it. Good luck, |

Thanks Larry
BTW I am in your neck of the woods on travel...I am in NM, where the weather is great and you can work on cars 365 days a year, and the people are pretty easygoing, and the sun makes me feel 10 years younger. (However I dont see any old Mercedes 240 D or 300D on the road down here)
