Turbo Intake Hose

On my 1983 300 D: I am having trouble getting the Turbo hose to stay on, I know it has two clamps to keep it on, but the hose does not seem long enoulf, looks like the grooves inside the bottom of the hose is made to twist on, any suggestions??

Inside the U-shaped pipe there are two rubber gaskets, one at each end. After a while they become hard and can cause the pipe itself to slip off sometimes.
