My trusted old mercedes 300d for sale in chicago

Hello all,

My trusted old merecedes 1984 with 280K is for sale now that I picked up the 1987 300d (which unfortunately needs some trans work....I dont want to talk about it)

I feel kind of stupid selling my 300d after I got everything working so well in it. I kid you not she is mechanically awesome. I had bought it 3 years ago from a person I knew. THey have about six inches of records.

Since then I have new
michilins
Brake pad have just been changed
Rebuilt bosch starter
bilstien shocks all around
new radiator
thermostat
hoses
belts
ac retro fit r134a which blows cold
passanger door seal (was leaking)
new climate control switch
oil pan gasket
dreaded turbo drain gromit
change all fluid tranny every 20000 last time 10K ago rear diff 30000 ago
New injectors at 250K
Auxillary water pump
sub frame mount this spring
new timing chain at 250K
new exaust at 250k
Run delvac I at 4000 mile change
All fluids have been changed to synthetic
new glow plugs at 240K
no vacuum leaks
DOES NOT LEAK OIL OR TRANNY FLUID OR ANYTHING
Now for the fun stuff.

cibie euro lights with 80/100
converted the fogs to driving light with relay to go on with high beams. IF you have trouble seeing at night you wont
Alpine radio with infinity speaker all rewired and amped with a 15" tube in the trunk.... SOUNDS GREAT

I know that you guys have heard that people are not honest and will sell cars with problems.... Unfortunately for me I am painfully honest and this car is in great mechanical form

The body has some rust on the wheel wells but not that bad at all.

Why am I selling it. Because I bought a 87 300d. Why was I motivated to look elsewhere. THe seats are uncomfortable for me and they hurt my back when I drive it and THere is not much left to fix on it so like in the past with my other cars I am prepared to sell it for a significant loss.

I am asking 2500 for it.

I think that is very fair considering its history. Alot of folks have to be wary of buying neglected cars. THis one has not been neglected.

Thanks to all for your consideration

I also remembered that I have a new interstate battery.

The entire car radio is rewired with 2 rca runnign to the trunk with amps and subwoofers.

This car is safe and very sound.

everything works on this car.

If you talk to me about it there will be no secrets or surprises.

Thanks again for looking

bob

Well it is goin in the paper

We shall try the paper first and if not that maybe charity.

I was truly hoping that a forum member would get the car. I think that the general population does not feel the same way about diesels as we do.

They probably wont appreciate all the effort it takes to get these cars together.

I also got my title in the mail today from my car purchase. That was interesting yet a whole nother story.

Again I will state, and this will be the last time, THis car would be great for anyone. THe little bit of rust on it would take an afternoon to repair. If I could buy the paint today I would do it tonight but the stores dont sell it. I probably have to special order it.

I wanted to sell it with the upgraded radio and lights but I am going to pull them out

The sad part is the that most people do not like these cars.
Being eccentric is great but it makes for harder selling

Thanks

That's really too bad...looks to be an excellent car. If I could even dream of affording it, I wouldn't mind adding her to the fleet...she looks to be in excellent condition.

Good luck with the sale!!

The Bob:

Talk to me. I have two acres of MB's right now with a few parking spots left. I can't stand to see all that maintenance go to waste. IT HAS TO GO TO A FORUM MEMBER (fellow crazy).

What is your bottom line to a MB bro? Figure out some creative way for me to do this as I'm only 3 hours away!

Are the seats sat out?

Don

Thanks for your interest

Thanks to all,

If anyone wants I have more pictures to email.

I will show all the worts of this car.

As far as the price, at this time I have it listed in the paper for $3000. To forum members I am asking $2500. If some one is interested in the car but not the upgrade cibie lights and stereo (The stereo sound great, completely rewired with rca and speaker access at the trunk) I can lower the price if you are not interested in them.

Also If you email me please list on the subject 300d or something to that effect as I am getting bombarded with spam. If you email me and I do not reply it is because I missed you email due to the spamming and accidently deleted it, I will reply to all emails

If you want to speak with me call me at 815 759 1100

Thanks again

bob

Actually this car would be great for a younger person also as it has thumping bass and some real great headlights

I will also throw in some air filters, w123 manual CD, Haynes manual, and a rockand roll cd of your choice.

Thanks
