Waste Vehicle oil Burning
 

A question about using waste vehicle oil. My plan is not too run at 80 % or anything near, just a couple of gallons once in a while. Is there any combination of paper/other filters I can use with a funnel just to filter out the oil enough to be safe to pump through. The oil is all mine so I know what's in it. Most of the jugs themselves have been sitting for a year or more. The crap's hard to get rid of and I'd rather burn it off anyway. Thanks for any advise.

Take it to your local Wal-Mart or recycle center. 90%+ take it for free and don't have volume limits. At walmart all you must do is sign a logbook (Even that you can lie about, they don't check anything :eek: ). I would hate to hear that you gunked up your IP just to get rid of some oil.

If you want to burn oil, just leave that to your valve seals or oil seperator. ;)

Here is another way to looke at it:

. Filter it and thrown out the dirty filtered out toxid stuff
. Burt in in your car and emmited toxins (detergents etc) in the air

hmmm... does not sound too much like friendly thing to do. Now heaters that burn Waist Crank Oil (WCO).... thats different. Apparently they burn so hot the toxins are all burned away.

Soooooo... recycle your WCO at Wallymart or Autozony etc. Burn Waste Vegetable Oil (WVO) it has no nasty carbons in it like WCO and Diesel does.

most of the waste oil you take to the recycler just gets put into bunker fuel, which just gets burned in giant two-strokes on ship which burn very dirty.

Decided to do wallmart etc. never thought about the crap I'd be burning and pulling through the ip. wvo would be a better choice. Now at least for the first time since I've had this car diesel is actually cheaper than regular. 1.59 diesel, 1.89 regular.

What?

There's absolutely no way a domestic forced air oil furnace is going to burn hotter than an internal combustion engine; especially one with a 22:1 compression ratio.

Think about it, it's simple physics.

A significant portion of waste crankcase oil collected in the US is burned in asphalt plants whose stack gas emmissions are (theoretically) controlled by the EPA. In this respect, disposal of waste crankcase oil by taking it to a recycling center my be more enviromentally responsible.

sorry....... this could well be miss information I spoke of. Read the data/ads on the waste crank case burnering heaters that are commercially available. Heard they burn very clean, though maybe its not due to temps in them as I stated.
