Where's the battery?? Glow plug fuse??

How do I access the battery in a 210? I know it's under the rear seat but I can't seem to figure out how to move the seat or lift the seat or anything at all. I don't even know which side it's on.

Also, where is the glow plug fuse located? Does this car even have one? I can't seem to find it anywhere either. I'd hate to get stranded and not be able to find something so simple.

Thanks,

Scott

Battery is under the back seat on the passenger side (left). The seat has a squeese lever under each anterior corner, where it meets the base. Simply push up on the lever on one side and it will release, then do the other and seat is loose. Battery is (should be) covered with a soft insulation and plastic sheet.
There is a glow plug relay on the front drivers side wheel well. Not sure about any fuse, but doubt it. Good luck. Harvey

Thanks. I've seen those things on the bottom corners of the seats. I thought they were some kind of connection devices for something. I will try what you said and hopefully I can finally get to my battery.

Man!! I can't wait for the CD to come out for this car. Without it, we will all be asking one another the most basic questions as the miles pile-up.

In the meantime, does anyone know if there evan a way to get a shop manual, non CD version?

Well, at least start with the owner's manual. Stuff like how to get to the battery is in there. If your car didn't come with one, the dealer should be able to supply it.

While you're under there, do some poking around. You'll be amazed at the number of fuses under the seat.

Scott98,

Look inside the GP relay for a slug of lead about 1 X 1/4 inch held

in by 2 screws.

Older ones were that way but newer ones may be different.

Don't think there is one on the 606 series. Might ask Larry Bible.

P.E.Haiges:

I know exactly what you're talking about. I know where it is on my 123. Just couldn't find it on the 210.

Rick Miley:

I read through the owner's manual and it tells you that the battery is under the rear seat. My recollection, however, is that it doesn't tell you how to remove the rear seat.

However, I was looking at both these things frantically one night in a parking lot when the car wouldn't start so maybe I just overlooked both. It was the strangest thing. I had just parked the car and got back in to leave. I cranked it over without waiting for the glow plugs because the engine was hot and I can do that on my 123. However, the car cranked without turning over. I then turned the key back, waited a few seconds, then clicked it over to let the glow plugs activate. They never did, which is what started the panicking. After not finding anything I was looking for, I tried the key one more time. The glow plugs lit and the car started. I have no idea what went wrong.

Scott,

My cars always crank without turning over. Yep, they always stay on the 4 wheels and I expect they always will. LOL
