Not that any of us 123 owners have any cracked dashes... BUT....

This was mentioned on the PBS show " Motorweek"...

http://justdashes.com/

If you are going to try them you had better hurry.... they may be overrun with that kind of plug... a LOT of people trust Pat Goss...

When I saw the title I thought this thread was about professional help for car owners emotionally upset about hairline cracks in dashboard..... The problem actually began with 114/115's didnt it? I cant remember any of my 111 finbodies having cracked dashboards.

I got an estimate from them. They're quite expensive. Here's their estimate:

1981 Mercedes Dash Pad Restoration in black $750, in color $800. Core and color sample needed. Turn around time is 6 weeks.

All I have to say is why pay $800 when you can get a coverlay dashboard cover. I estimated mine, I don't know if the 1981 300SD has the climate sensor on it, I think it does. But since I'm in Texas, and wanted it painted green, the grand total comes out to be $115.35 minus $7.29 if you're outside of Texas, and will be at your house in two weeks, and installation takes 8hrs total for the coverlay to set. In my opinion, I think the coverlay would be better if you just want to cover the cracks.

My father's '85 300D has only 2 small cracks, whereas both of my TDs have significant cracks. The difference I have been told is the color. Just about all blue dashes crack, whereas black, like my father's hold up alot better. Personally if the cracks really bothered me, I would go with an overlay.

Performance has 25% off Coverlays this week (?)

I just ordered a coverlay from Performance Products. They have a 25% off sale if you order through the internet. Don't know how long the sale will be on. Don't mean to plug the competition, but this is a great deal.

PS... OF COURSE, check MB AUTOWORKS FIRST... maybe they will price-match?
