Report from previous thread.... early '80s 300D cost about $35G whereas 240D stick shift cost $24,000. One forum member reports '77 w123 300D at $18G.
Notes I had made in my chilton repair book that I've had since '86 tell me the 114 280/8 sold for $7,800 new in '73. You can double the price of ordinary cars of any era to find typical MB prices...... ahem, this would make '60s finbodies cost less than $5G brand new, probably at/near $3,200 for the humble diesel. Gotta get myself one of those primitive finbody diesels in mint condition souped up with 240D engine one day - knowing the car has not depreciated one nickel from its original sticker price.

When I bought my car almost a year ago, I was happy it came with the window sticker! Back in 1985, my 300CD was listed at $35,220, and EPA fuel economy rated at 22 city/25 highway Best I've gotten is around 30mpg I believe. Also, it sold new at Overseas Motors Corporation in Ft. Myers, Fl. Hope you can locate your ideal cost of your car..

It's a motorhome. 617 5 cyl diesel with a 5 spd. A couple of parts dealers in the US. Eurotech out in your neck of the woods. Can order parts directly from Europarts in the UK. Some engine parts are interchangeable with the 300d engine.
The 409's are quite rare. There are more 207's, 307's and 407's. These have the 616 4 cyl diesel. (same as 240d) 4's have the dual rear wheels. 2's and 3's have single rear wheels. I like the van. I probably would not consider a 4cyl or a 4 spd in the US. In Europe, driving conditions are different, so I would buy one over there again.
