Modulator on a '79?

Good Day!!!

My 79 300TD is suffering from hard shifting. It shifts at the right RPM's, downshifts correctly, dosen't flare or slip at all. However, when accelerating moderately to hard, it shifts hard (jerks). If I am accelerating leisurely, it shifts a lot more smoothly. I was thinking that the shift might be too fast and wanted to delay it, slow it down a bit. A few searches told me that You can adjust shifting delay by turning the t-handle on the modulator. I looked for it but could not find it. Tranny is out of a '75 300D. Still have the old '79 tranny and it dosen't have it either. Did they start installing modulators later on? If so, how do I adjust my shift delay?

Thanks
