Good NEWS, And Congrats

The engine that was sitting for several months that I fired up recently took FOREVER to going (get all the air out, I guess) Now she runs good. .....Happy motoring

charge the battery, take out all the glow plugs and crank the engine, (throttle held at 50% or more), until you see atomized fuel coming out of all glow plug holes. put the plugs back in and it will start right back up.

Thats a new one on me. Sounds like it outa work, the engine would turn over nice and fast getting the job done quick. Humm. I think if I was having that much trouble starting I would tow start it tho, I realize thats not an option in some areas, epically if its an auto tranny. Thanks for the tip , I can get the GPs in and out of my 616 pretty fast now Hay ..now that I think about it, your method might be easier than tow starting.

Yeah, I had a chevy 350 spin the first cam bearing that came to rest on the intake valve lobe and number one piston destroyed itself. after I put it back, the $@#%$ would NOT start for love nor money til I thought that one up. That 8 cylinder fogged up the garage like a mosquito sprayer, but it took off smooth and easy after I buttoned it up again. I tell my tech students (I"m a sub diesel mechanic instructor) that while you get the injectors purged, it also lets you build up the oil pressure on a new/rebuilt engine so the engine doesn't start up until you get the 50 lbs oil pressure.
