Indoor air temp senor (capacitor or resistor)
Hello all,
I am trying to fix a potential problem with my climate control. the temp that it blows does not jive well with the indoor air. I want to rebuild the indoor temp senor. There is a blue capacitor looking device in it that resist electrical current. I bought some resisitor (a whole assorted box because no one at radio shack knows what they are) The blue capacitor says 10K on it and that is all. first of all is it a capacitor or a resistor. Can I buy one of these things at radio shack thanks for all your help. bob c 1987 300d |
ok i figured it out
It is a thermistor 10k but radio shack does not carry them they suck thanks bob |
Taken from another thread regarding external sensor, but the same suppliers should be able to help with the 10K internal thermistor:

This enables you to replace the sensor cable to the display connector (around the fuse box). Because of the labor involved in routing the cable through the engine wire bundle, many mechanics will just cut-off a piece and splice it to the old cable (not recommended!). Others, to avoid the splice, will desolder the sensor from the new cable and replace the old sensor. In any event, all you need is the sensor itself which is an NTC thermistor. Units such as the Fenwal #192-302LET-A01 or Thermometrics #EC95F302W are more durable and accurate than the original spec. The Thermometrics unit, for example, lists for $3.75 and is available from electronics suppliers such as Newark and Allied. Hope this helps.
