This is one of those rare moments where I agree with PEH I don't feel that is necessary to remove the cooler line though. The company that built the car doesn't list it in the instructions ,ans you can strip those aluninum threads if you aren't careful.
Shoe, You make an excellent point about getting a chance to check things out under there. Weatherman, That is just more MB hype. The real reason for the topside extraction is to reduce dealer time. I don't see any reason for all the dialogue about how to change the oil. Warm it up, pop the filter, slide under it with a wrench and pan, pull the plug, and drain it. After about 10 minutes, put the plug in and throw what ever oil is on sale back in. Been doing it that way for hundreds of thousands of miles and right next to my above ground lift too unless I have some other reason to put the car in the air. Peter

Re: What's the truth about through the dip-stem oil extractors?
Easy, No Mess - Oil Change
With the use of Tempo Oil Boy Fluid Extractor Kit (works the same as the Topsider but a nicer design, I think), make oil changes fun and easy. Check it out: http://outfittersparadise.com/o/Marine_Oil_Change_Systems/Tempo_Oil_Boy_Fluid_Extractor_Kit_361857.htm __________________ Smokeless - 84 300D Turbo Diesel - daily driver 189,000 km and climbing (Sep 2003) |

tempo sucker
The Tempo doesn't hold enough (4.5 liters) to do a diesel Mercedes. The Big Boy holds over 2 gallons.
