I have rebuilt a lot of engines, but no transmissions. I have no training either. But I am having trouble locating an 83 Manual trasnmission here in South Jersey.
I cant downshift from 4th to 3rd. I think I have a busted Synchro. My biggest problem I think would be
1) Documentation
2) Parts
3 Special tools

Anybody got any input?

How hard is to repair a 83 240D Manual Transmission?

Manual MB trannies are pure hell to rebuild -- everything is adjustable, and a number of special tools are required, I think, to say nothing of the vast number of parts in there!

Call Bernard at European Connection in Falmouth, KY (his number is posted somewhere on the forum, do a search) -- he will surely have one in good condition, and they aren't so heavy it cannot be shipped fairly cheaply. I'd go that route before taking one apart.
