I can say that I haven't had ANY rude encounters since 1982 when I bought a 300TD wagon to replace the '80 300TD wagon that couldn't get out of it's own way when loaded and climbing hills. Even the naturally aspirated diesels I've owned in the last couple of decades have been VERY peppy (0-60 well below 20 sec)!

In sunny Miami, SUV capital of the world, my 240 usually gets me plenty of dirty looks and some commnets form people behind me *****in' about the smoke.

Tough Crap, I'm getting 25MPG while they are getting 8-10.........

I've only had one encounter with an SUV driving jerk (I drive an SUV) who just had to go around me to pass on an entrance ramp. I passed him a few seconds later on the HWY. What was up with that? To boot, he was driving like an Isuzu or a Toyota SUV. I can difg it if you've got some wheels, but one of those CRV things? I live in MO./KS. People drive badly here.

Just had one today. Teenager talking on his cellphone sped up and pulled literally less than 1 foot from my bumper in front of me. It was a two lane merging into one and he coulden't wait to flow with traffic (Even I was doing 5 over at the time!). Of course with my short temper, I flicked on the high beams, blared the horns (all five 140db of em') and followed him at a safe distance untill the road went two lanes again. I dropped into third, floored it and got in front of him for a smokescreen. As luck goes, this blows it. I pressed the button and NOTHING! I got home to find out it was empty

I actually am the guy doing all the passing because people around here all drive SUVs. They drive slow to conserve gas. While I drive a 72bhp diesel that returns 30 mpg flooring it past everyone on the road. I get mean looks from adults, seeing someone young enough to be their kid driving a mercedes. Little do they know it's a 19 year old car that has at least 2 times the miles theirs does and I picked it up for under 4 grand! But that's why I love a mercedes, it's still a mercedes no matter what year, model, condition, or price you paid. AND MILES DON'T MATTER ON A BENZ!

"Rudest" vehicle...

My nomination for the vehicle associated with the worst behavior is the BMW SUV. These are still pretty rare, but almost every time I see one it's involved in bad behavior...cutting someone off, weaving in/out of traffic, blocked to inconvenience, etc.

I got a good one for you all....

I got a good one for you all...
I was driving to work the other morning and there was this Toyota Corolla whipping around traffic on the freeway. This car then whipped out in front of me and I noticed that both vanity mirrors were down and lit. I though this was odd so I got in the lane next to the car to see two young women PUTTING ON MAKE-UP! This really irked the hell out of me. They were paying more attention to their "pretty" little faces than the traffic around them. @#!$% little %$%#!'s. People like that should be arrested on the spot and their licenses taken away for LIFE!
WHERE ARE THE COPS WHEN YOU NEED THEM?!?

As long as they didn't cause an accident and they had some nice chi-chi's to check out while passing them :-)

Although the accident is almost inevitable since it was a woman driving... Ohh nutzzzzzzz

Good question,

While I was in the US living in NY, merging with my 240D was always a nightmare and I would get plenty of birdies and venom from guys already in the third lane. Sometimes it would be to the point of frustration.

With the turbo OM 616 on my Gurkha and the awesome Hino 6000cc 248bhp on my vintage Nissan Patrol, things have improved way better especialy with the Nissan, I can blow away most gas engined cars because the Hino engine pumps out 310lb/ft of torque at incredible 1600rpm, this is where the diesels come alive and have the advantage over gasoline equivalents.

Audi and BMW are in the process of using big displacement diesels for this very same reason in their luxury cars.

Hey 190D22

Yeah, it does seem that a Benz is still a Benz no matter what year, as long as it looks good and isn't ate up with rust. I get a lot of attention with my Benz, especially from older folks. I need to get a digital camera so I can post pictures of all the vintage Benzes in walking distance from my house. Its unbelievable.

When I was at the u-pick yard a couple weeks ago I had a guy stop while he was walking past and say "stuck with one of those huh? Bad idea in Michigan"....(I was working on a 126...).....then he went away. Had a bunch of GM parts in his wheel barrow.....typical.

Today some a-hole was tailgaiting me on the freeway. He was driving a brand new BMW of some kind. Really a nice-looking car.

I popped into neutral and jammed on the accelerator, throwing a huge puff of diesel/veggie smoke straight into his car. He stopped tailgaiting after that.

No, none that I remember.

I have a cut throat attitude on the road since I drive alot. I'm usualy the one forcing my way through slower, dumber drivers. What burns me are all the retards that come out on the weekends and drive slower than mud, 25 in a 30 zone is really popular. I'm like WTF I'm working and I need to get somewhere. I usualy just pass them, now.
