If tensioner is bad will cam mark test be invalid (300D Turbo 82)
If the tensioner is bad, would that be reason to make the garage mechanic test of alignment of cam marks and read the "timing mark" results for chain elongation invalid?

You will get a good reading because the tensioner is on the slack side. The crankshaft gear is pulling the chain over the injection pump and then over the camshaft. The tensioner is between the camshaft and the crank on the slack side of the chain.
