Were all the air filters located like the on that 300D or is that because it's a Calif. car?

The air filter is in a different location to make room for the trap oxidizer. Commonly called the "California" version, but actually sold in 11 western states.

Zero feedback for the seller. I might buy a matchbox car from someone with no feedback, but never a full-sized car. :p

The seller says, "the dash is flawless" but you can see crack of about 2 inches alongside the passenger side speaker, as well as some screw caps missing on the knee knockers below the dash box.
It does look like an exceptional specimen, though, but I just wish people would accurately describe their cars when on EBay.
Have fun, Adam BUsh

300d beauty

I love the ebay ads where they desribe their car as having absolutely, positively no rust, except for a patch here and there. Cracks me up for some reason.

Yup. That's a stock '85 California intake/air cleaner rig. The good news is the filter housing mounts don't break. The bad news is that the filters cost about double what the regular filters cost. Nice car though. It still has the old blue license plates so it's probably been in California all it's life.

Not to mention the 4 year old professional factory paint job.

Very nice car, but don't know how you can get a factory paint job on a 18 year old car. I would probably pay more for air filters rather then the constant repair of the rubber mounts and bracket on my federal car.

Beautiful! This car is identical to mine except mine is a 1984 year model. The interior in MB Tex is not leather, a common mistake

I drove this "Beauty"

I'm from LA, and I found this car on autotrader.com about 3 weeks ago. I've been looking for a good car for quite some time now and well this is what I found out about the car that he didn't list in the EBAY ad. It isn't the first owner, it's the second, but she DID buy in in '85. The Stereo is NICE, over 1000 dollars, and brand NEW. They loaned the car to a friend for a few years and he drove it "across the country" a few times. It has a crack in the windsheild, the A/C doesn't work, it has had no major repairs as of yet, this means all original tierods, upper and lower balljoints, and one of the uppers was gushing grease out of a split boot. They were asking 3000 but I'm sure they took less. I can't believe it is going for over 4,000 right now. I mean sure it was clean, but still. The trans shifted strong, hard but strong, and the engine had subpar acceleration, even for a diesel, I couldn't even hear the turbo spool up, but I don't know if that means it is seized or whatevever. I have drived an 83 SD with way more acceleration as this car! I used to own an 85D california edition and well it had about 40,000 more miles and had much more power, although after my turbo went kaput, it felt like this one. Beware buyers! I've found that it is really easy to get excited about things like this but usually if it seems too good to be true, it is. Sorry to sound too negitive, BTW great resource! Thanks for such a GREAt site!
