Home made tool for removing starter
I used a small grinder to cut the Allen wrench so it would fit the top bolt & not hit the firewall.
This tool saved me a lot of trouble and frustration! Here's another tip once you get the Allen bolt out throw it AWAY! I replaced mine with a hex bolt . That way you can use a box wrench to reinstall the starter. Last edited by whunter; 12-05-2011 at 09:13 PM. Reason: spelling |

A two foot 3/8 extension with a universal and allen socket will give easy access to the bolt from the side of the transmission next to the transmission mounting bracket.
