300SD hood...

Is the hood on a 1985 SD the same as the hood on the 86 or 87 SDL?

Someone called me on it today and I was unsure. I believe it is.

It's in great shape. "No rust" just a small dent the size of a golfball. How much is it worth?

Thanks

The hood should be the same for all W126 sedans.

Adsit lists a W126 hood as $490 for new and $350 used. I assume you would deduct some for the dent.

I figured I could get 200.00 for it. There aren't too many, if any at all, pick and pulls around here.

Thanks

Hood

Their is a big difference between Pick&Pull prices and buying a hood that has been pulled....Your hood is worth between 150 and 250 dollars...If you have a salvage yard it would be worth more because they have a captive industry(Body Repair Shops&Major Insurance Adjusters)...We have a pick and pull about 20 miles away and while the prices are interesting and reasonable it is a major problem trying to find just what you are looking for...Sometimes it can be 2-3 hours of futile searching because the hired help usually replies yes we have that and they have no idea where just a general direction..

Mercedes automobiles apparently don't die in Florida. (Maybe they all go to ebay! ) I searched several times for used MB parts for various models in my area and always came up empty. That is until forum member jhal pointed me to a local salvage yard that does not maintain an inventory. They have no idea what is in the yard. If you call and ask "Do you have any Mercedes?", the answer will be "We don't know."

This is Florida. The rules are different here.
