Adjusted ALDA....Cold Starting Problem
Could a recently adjusted ALDA be causing a cold starting issue? About two months ago I adjusted the ALDA about two 1/4 turns for more power (it worked). As the weather is getting colder, the car starts fine, but stalls upon putting it in gear.
It takes a few minutes to warm up before it will hold. A couple of suggestions came my way, but before I try them all, I'm wondering if the ALDA adjustment could have messed it up? Thanks Don |
Have you adjusted the rack dampner bolt since the last cold season? If so, back it out a bit, you are going to have to choose between smooth idle and cold running, alas, until you get the pump rebuilt.

These cars don't normaly stall, ever. If it is, that means there is a possible underlying problem. The alda should not affect idle. You can just set the idle higher (800-1000 range), that should help somewhat in the inital load of shifting into drive.

Ok:
Tomorrow we work on the rack pin. Thanks for the advice and I'll bump the idle a bit as well. Don |
