Question 300D elect windows quit?

Ran a search but didn't find a silver bullet, yet. Electric windows in my '84 300D have all worked until yesterday, at which point the both left windows and rear right quit (up, fortunately) while the front passenger works just fine...

Before I go digging, do these three or all four windows have anything electrical in common, like maybe a single relay somewhere? 1 or all would make sense. 3 out of 4 is weird!

Try the easy first - closely examine #2 fuse (believe that's what it was in my D) Even slight corrosion will cause glitches.

I'm thinking two of them are the fuse and the other one is corrosion at the switch. Use die-electric grease or do what I did, throw away those old aluminum fuses and put copper ones in (with die-electric grease ). The fuse will stop kitty corner ones from working.

Boostnbenz, that's what I was looking for ( the bit about the fuse stopping front left, rear right. ) After I thought about it for awhile I remembered that the back left had been acting up, sometimes requiring the door to be slammed to get it to move (something loose or corroded in the door, probably). So, most likely the back left is up to it's old, independent tricks, and a fuse has stopped the front left/rear right.

I had turned all the fuses but will get serious and clean/replace this time.

Thanks.

Thumbs up

Thanks!
You guys were right on the money. # 2 fuse (aluminum) was corroded - turning it wasn't enough. Replaced all the fuses with brass. Fixed the driver and rear passenger windows. Driver's side rear is a bad connection at the motor in the door.

I didn't think it was a fuse because front right kept working...maybe two different fuses for windows?

Anyway, thanks! On to 400k!

fmb,
I doubt if you have a bad connection. It is rare, but I have seen a few cases where the left rear window wire is broken in the pillar post. My 83 wagon has been broken for a couple of years. It's on my roundtuit list.
