92 300D 2.5 Turbo- Can I turn rotor

Has anyone turned their rotors? What outcome did you have?

The dealership said that they will crack if I turn them. I wish I could trust them, they have given me the wrong advice before.

I called the place that turns my Toyota rotors they said: They do a few Mercedes rotors.

Thank you

Nick

A new one is $45 from FastLane. How much to turn?

FWIW I don't think they'll crack. They'll likely warp sooner and you risk the pistons over extending from the caliper if they wear too thin.

Replace any iffy rotors, it's probably less expensive even in the short run. On the W124, you don't have to pull the hub, either, there is just a conical head screw holding the rotor on after you remove the wheel.

Rears are usually a bear to get off, they've been installed forever and rust into place badly.

Clean the new one properly before installing, no grease on the brake pads, please....

New pads, too, and check the dust boot on the caliper for damage.

Let them go. Not a good way to try to save a few bucks. For the labor and trouble involved, you may as well just get new ones.

Thank you to all....

I am going to replace the rotors.

It costs $8.00 each at Pep Boys to turn them. I will not take the chance.

Thank you

Nick
