89 300d with knocking noise in rear
 

This has been driving me crazy. At low speeds i get a knock and kinda of a clicking noise out of the drivers rear end. There are several bushings that have been replaced over the past couple of years but this does not stop. The shocks look fine( no leaking). Can it be the rear bearing ?? Otherwise I have no idea whats up here

Happens mainly when i am coasting and sometimes has a squeek/clunk/ping sound. 1/2 shaft???

oops I mean 300E

most likely an axle shaft.
