confused
hi guys! After posting and reading at this site for a while I thought I had the value of my 190D all figured out. i thought I'll start by asking about $3,500 for a 1985 190D 2.2 l in good condition, no rust, sunroof, leather, with a load of new OEM parts, new AC, no problems, at 187,000 miles.
Since I thought an average value for that car was about $4K, I figured out I should get about $3K for it (I posted at the Cars for sale forum and in local newspaper). Never mind that I had no takers, I had no calls or comments whatsoever. What am I doing wrong? The wholesale for the car is $1,500 and that's what I would get for it on eBay or trading in at a dealer. Well, I'm not a wholesaler. I bought and sold about 23 cars in the last 15 years and always around the market value price. Any thoughts? |
Thanx, TxBill. you may be right. By " no rust" I meant that I fixed all surface rust and that there is no "thru-rust." Of course, there is some rust, but none visible (not even bubbles).

ha ha ha! good thread. OK, there is SOME rust. I fixed rust holes around the jack supports (started as rot and when I cleaned it off I had 3 pretty decent size holes. Used epoxy to fix it. There are no rust holes and the body above rocker panels is rust-free (not repaired- simply NO rust). Does this explain it better?
