It was the brake hoses!
some of you here might remember my brake bleeding problem. I would loosen the nipple and the mityvac could not draw any brake fluid. well.....
the inner part of the brake hoses had swollen shut allowing only a pin-sized diameter hole for the fluid to squeeze through. this explains why the brakes still worked (obviously not as effectively). new hoses installed. problem solved. thanks to all who helped with their suggestions. rodsob
