driving from so cal to colorado in A 240d GOOD IDEA BAD IDEA
Iam planning A trip to colorado soon just wondering if this is A good idea in an 82 240d with 325,000 miles on it. It drives perfect around town and elsewhere, never driven that far yet in it, also how fast should I be going, 65mph it sounds like its going to blow up revs really high I guess this is normal, would like to go faster but not sure. it does seem to vibrate A little bit as well as being A little on the loud side. any info would be great thanks!

It's not turning as fast as the 617 in my 409d which is geared quite a bit lower. I drove it from LA to Denver in May. If you come east on I-70 you'll be crawling over Vail Pass and the Eisenhower Tunnel but that is no big deal. It's not as hill if you come east on I-40 then north on I-25.
Go for it.

Right...Go fo it
I assume you plan on having tools, extra fuel filters, all the stuff you keep in the trunk of an old car for a road trip. I personally would not go into the mountians in winter, unless I had too cause I am not a snow driver but I wouldnt worry about the car, shel make it.

"bring along is the title"......Why would he do that? The current registration and proof of insurance have always done it for me or have I been missing something. Unless he is on a mission to Colorado too sell the car.

jeremy,
My daughter drove our 1982 240D stick with 296,000 miles from Connecticut to San Diego via Durango and Las Vegas, stopping at nearly every National Park on the way. Then she drove it home, through Texas to see her uncle, and up through the Blue Ridge Mtns. It arrived home with 306,000 miles and is headed to 310,000 shortly. It got a little hot in the desert when the outside air temperature in August reached nearly 120*F. Make sure the car is as good a condition as you can manage before leaving, bring a set of fan belts, some tools, and the other stuff mentioned above, as well as a couple gallons of MB antifreeze mixed with water. Good luck, and keep us posted, Jim
