headliner without the headache

hey folks,

does anyone have any experience with a partial removal of the headliner in a 123 to fix a bad sunroof tube?

i've finally deduced that my sunroof cable will not pass the point where the sunroof tube makes its first turn at the back windshield. i would rather not remove the headliner (and back windshield) entirely, but i may not have any other options...

thanks in advance for any advice,

ben

sunroof

Maybe you have already considered using an electrician's fish tape to try and pull the cable through the hole. Pushing rope or wire or cable is difficult. Try pulling it.

i'll try that, thanks.

you know, i just thought of another reason why it won't make that turn--the headliner is sagging in that spot. perhaps the clip that holds the sunroof tube has a screw loose. i try supporting the headliner/tube there while simultaneously feeding the cable through.

also, a cleaning brush attached to wire makes it through just fine. ideas?

Make sure there is a lot of grease and spin the cable between your fingers when you push it. But you probably already did this.
I would say if it works with the brush the cable should go to.

viola!

thanks for the help. all it takes is a push with pliers for about 5 inches, around that first turn.
