Injector inspection
I removed the injectors from the Turtle to give them a good cleaning as per Thomaspin's web site. I found minimal tip wear on all of them but what I'm concerned about is the rust I found on #3. Injectors #1,2,4&5 were oily (on the outside)but #3 was rusty. I am assuming this isn't a good thing , any comments or suggestions ? Thanks in advance .

Rusty on the INSIDE or outside? You said all were oily on the OUTSIDE. That tells me that #3 is the only one that DIDN'T have a leaking return line.
Rust on the inside, OTOH, when you take them apart is another matter, maybe still not the end of the world for that injector though. I've dis-assy'd injectors on boat engines (in rolling seas no less) that had sloppy red "goop" (rust) inside, cleaned them, re-assy'd them and they ran fine (even years later). Pics tell 1k words????

Hi TomJ , it was rusty on the outside only, a small amount of corrosion inside but mostly a buildup of carbon. I just started it a few minutes ago and all seems well .I wanted to have them tested but the injection shop (which is normally open on Saturdays) was closed today. I need the car for work on Monday so I couldn't wait . This is my first time doing anything with the injection system other than filters and purging so I was a little nervous.
