W123 Repair / Maint CD

Has anyone figured out how to use these CD's with a more modern version of Adobe? I would like to use Adobe 6 to read/print the CD information but it always forces me to install the Adobe 3 on the CD. I understand computerese so if this might invlove copying thins to the drive, screwing with some ini files etc, I'll be able to understand. Any help appreciated. I'll do some research on my own too and post any results in this thread.

Thanks much.

Repair CD

Go ahead and load the CD with Adobe 3, then upgrade to 6 once CD is installed, and delete 3, it shoud read it..I have the same issue with my Canon software for my digital camera.

Not sure I know exactly what you're talking about vis-a-vis install. The CD basically has no install procedure. The instructions have you click on an HTML file which fires up the app (off the CD) at which point I get the message about Adobe and various other things needed. Now, I can open files on the CD with Adobe 6 but I can't get the web interface to fire up without Adobe 3 installed. The computer runs XP and IE6. The CDs, which were bought from an e-bay vendor, are probably ripped from the originals. Thanks for your reply.

Stand by. I will be doing this in a few days and will post a workaround if I can find one.

I had the same problem the other day running this CD first time on our new PC with Adobe 6. I will try the advice given here.
My question about this CD (I have posted it in a new thread today; please read & respond!) is: Where is the "Combustion" section that was on my old microfiche manual? For that matter, where is ANY info on diagnosing and servicing injectors, other than R&R???
Please help!
Thanks.

The CD needs you to have Shockwave Flash and Adobe Acrobat reader installed. You probably already have later versions than those supplied.

To start, open Windows Explorer (or My Computer), navigate to the "Program" folder on the CD, and double click on "avick.htm". That will get you past the intro stuff and right into the manuals. Happy reading.

On my cd it is the matrix.htm file that opens to the selection menu for year and model.
I created a shortcut and renamed it for easy reference.
If you browse into the cd and find a pdf (or any pdf on your system) you can right click on it and then say open with.
It sometimes takes a while for the program list to load up but once it does select reader ver 6 and click the associate or always open with check box.
