Vacuum pump has been removed. Notes & Questions.

First things first. In a wagon with hydro. suspension... tell me how people follow the book/cd and remove the vac. pump without taking out the suspension pump.

In anyevent The vac. pump is now out, and I'd say we had a failure. Now, I need your help to tell me the rest.

Here's a pic:

Do you see what looks like a washer or something that is under the pump piston? What can that have caused?

Now, when I shake the pump and look in the hole where the booster line goes, I can see another part of something...

So my questions:

1) Can this have damaged the engine? (The engine runs fine... but can something be happening that I don't know about? Or am I ok.

2) I looked around on the engine side of things, didn't see anything... but what should I be looking for? (I want to avoid having this destroy my engine!)

3) Could this have scored something, should I buy a new one or attempt a rebuild? What would *YOU* do?

I'll stop there. Thanks for reading.

Hi Gottadiesel.

They are rebuildable,I'm sure Fastlane has the
rebuild kit for it.
www.**************.com,
www.************************ also have it if needed.

I only took mine apart once.
It looks like part of one of the valves.

I think you should be ok.

Louis.

Thanks... I found all the posts about rebuilding...

I'm just not sure how to know what the chances are of something being damaged as a result of busted pieces. (In other words, I don't want to rebuild the pump if those broken pieces have damaged something that won't let the pump work anyway...)

Thanks.

Seems to me the logical thing is to proceed with a rebuild... the first step of which is a teardown and inspection.... it is only at that point that you can really make a good decision as to whether it is rebuildable or you need another one....
My guess is that is a spring or limit keeper for a valve. It broke because of 7 Billion cycles being applied to it.
Or of course, if you can find a good one for cheap... then you might just install that. And hope the replacement was not at 6,999,999,999 cycles itself....
