anyone ever hear of mixing a little two cycle oit in with diesel? or even wd-40? sounds bizarre.

Why not? I always dump the used crankcase oil from both Lilly and Marlene in the wagon's tank and burn it; it's no big deal...I don't know if I'd run straight WD40 because it's too expensve. FWIW, the 'in' thing to do around here this year is to deep-fry your Thanksgiving turkey in 5 gallons of peanut oil. My co-workers already know that I collect the oil from the commissary's deep fryer for my cars so, here at my office, I've become the unofficial used turkey fry oil collection point. By next monday afternoon, I'll have enough oil to run my wagon and sedan for a couple of weeks!

I make my own homebrew fuel additive by mixing a bunch of products together. Recipe as follows:
8 parts Howes Lubricator Diesel Treat
4 parts Stanadyne Performance Formula
4 parts two-cycle oil
1 part FPPF Fuel Power
Mix together in gallon jug and dispense into used Amsoil 8oz two-cycle oil bottles, 4oz each for summer use, 6oz during winter. I make up 12-15 bottles worth and distribute to the fleet. Does it work? No idea. However I have never had a fuel related problem, water, etc. FWIW....... RT

Two cycle oil won't hurt anything. It will improve the lubricity of your fuel. I wouldn't go out and purchase T.C. oil for this purpose though. If you want to lubricate the pump and injectors just use a widely available and inexpensive diesel fuel additive.
