Buying a Diesel
I am looking at 1977 300td tomorrow. I am set on bringing her home with me...body looks very good!
I want to take it for a spin tomorrow and see how she shifts and runs. Any pointers about this car? Thanks Mario

'TD' stands for station wagon. I don't think MB even made a Euro version of the wagon in 77. It is probably a 77 300d or an 87 300td. Perhaps it is a 77 that has been converted to a turbo.

the car is in canada I am relying on info about it from my uncle
it might be 300D but still I dont mind turbo or no turbo I am going to look at the car in the morning and hopefully take it home if everything is ok

Mercedes introduced the TD (tourist/touring diesel) for model year 1978. With this '77 300 td, there must be a typo or something. Sometimes people will list their 300D turbo diesel as a "TD" for turbo diesel. Regardless, in the sedan 300D, MB didn't have the turbo enigne until modely year 1982. Possibly this car your going to look at is an '87 300D "turbo" (MB dropped the name "turbo diesel")

well the car wasnt what I expected it was little trashed
I am going to look at an 79 300d with 256k miles from what guy was telling me it sounds good. How much is too much for this engine? he was running sythetic for past 7 years and he replaced injectors 2 years ago!
