dieselnation,
Had that happen to me, took me about an hour to get it open, thought about drilling, prying, breaking out tail light. This will not help, at least in my case. These cars are not easy to break into.
The plastic part of the vacuum actuator came loose.
But, tuned key COUNTERCLOCKWISE, applying pressure with the key (do not break the key) holding trunk lid down as you do this.
Push in button, with pressure applied with the key, lift up on trunk lid and see if it comes open.
It may take several tries to do this.
After you get it open, examine the latch and plastic lever.
After I got it open, I modified my latch.
What I did was take out the latch assembly, drilled a hole 3/16" and made me a pull rod with a finger loop out of gas welding rod.
That way at least you can get it open, OR if someone gets locked in the the trunk, who knows why, IT can be opened from the inside!
Figured it would be cheaper to break out the tail light assymbly than destroy the trunk lid.

my 115 which has similar lock wasnt opening using the key
whatever the vacuum state was. there is an "L" shaped pivit
on the back of the cylinder that attaches to the vacuum
release and is rotated by the key or the vacuum lock. when
it turns it presses against the trunk latch and moves it. over the
years it formed a notch and finally stopped rolling the latch. filed
it round again and has worked without problems sense.

Mine did this when I reconnected the alarm (saw an unconnected wire and hooked it up) There is a trunk release under the back seat on the drivers side.

Did you recently reconnect your alarm.

Electric Alarm trunk lock

All,
The trunk not opening problem happened the day the alarm system was unhooked by a previous owner. Does anyone know how to manually override the electric trunk lock. Where are the wires located and how can I get to them when the trunk is shut? Please help. I am working on it today for my sister. Thanks

My previous post in this thread most likely describes the problem and how I lucked out in getting mine to release. I do believe that you will have to reconnect the alarm (under passenger footwell false firewall) and cycle the alarm with the key in drivers door lock. I would have some one at the trunk lock listening for a buzzzzz in addition to the vacuum actuator click.

The manual overide under the rear seat did NOT work for me on the electric lock.

Wiring would come from the rear seat back area probably drivers side. There is a harness there on my car. You may be able to put 12v. to one side or the other (lock/unlock) and bypass it that way. I will go out and check wire colors at the electric lock now and report back. Good luck.

Kofferaum-verriegelung (honest, that's what it's labeled) wire color update. There are three wires on an ancilliary mini-harness. Goes into the trunk from the driver's side behind the rear seat back (on my 300SD). They are:

1.) red
2.) black/green
3.) yellow/green.

Hope it helps.

Does anyone know what kofferaum-verriegelung means in English?
