Well, first of all you need to keep an extra horsehair seat pad and seat cover on hand at all times............ Maybe a headliner too.

But seriously, I did hear a story one time about somebody that glued razor blades to their stereo radio case. According to them they came back one morning and there was blood all over the front of the car and part of a finger on the floor........

Not sure the cleanup is worth all that for a Becker.........

Greg

Only last week two badgers and a cyot tried to steal an SUV from an visiting ecotourist.

Joe...top of the morning to ya

whunter ... That looks like a pretty good system. It sounds like there my be more of a market for old Benzes than I realized. I have a push button that replaces the GP relay but a smart badger could probably figure that out. Thanks for the write up.

the boy, (who has a licence but shouldnt IMHO) tried to take my
115 one night. burnt out the solonoid trying to start it. in his
boy arrogance he had never watched me start it. later when
i let him drive it, he ran out of fuel. killed the battery trying to
get it restarted. had showed him the primer pump, but boys
dont need no stinkin primer pumps instructions!
sold the car last week to a friend who needed something cheep
and reliable and now the kid has nothing he can drive of mine
and i am relieved.

don

I would have thought it a joke stealing a 123 in my area. A few weeks ago someone tried to take one of mine though. No plates on the car and no battery either. Smart theif. I was wondering if just a normal on/off fuel valve up front say fed by a choke cable might be enough to disourage the average theif. It would be nice if it went to the shut off mode automatically when you shut down but took you to reactivate it . That eliminates the time you forget to activate it for whatever reason and your car is gone. Perhaps it should be electrically controlled to accomplish that. Properly installed it may be hard to find unless you were familiar with 123s. The thief did not mess up the dash very much either on that example thank goodness. Anyways Hunter you have at least one good solution and perhaps the time has come unfortunatly for these measures.

Someone broke into the SDL last August. Not sure what they were looking for, didn't touch anything thankfully. I knew who it was to, but I couldn't prove it. At least the cop gave them a hard time.

It was deep in the woods though, if I had a baseball bat with me I may have tought them some respect.

Thats why the SDL doesn't go anywhere where it could get damaged. Heck its at the marina with the keys in the glove box most of the time. Having it there during the day is as safe as can be.

Never had any real thief after mine, but I did have a friend steal it from the school parking lot as a prank... (she knew where the spare key was) Wasn't much of one since she had to get me out of class to shut off the engine since it had a vacuum leak at the time...

Dang! I just got my neutral safety switch fixed. That was probably a fairly good theft deterrent, or would at least slow a thief down. I just got tired of the lengthy instructions I had to give people who need to borrow the car. So now there is one less item on the list.

There's got to be a better way to set up a disabling mechanism other than messing with the fuel system though, right? Having a WVO system in my car has helped me to realize that the fewer after-market junctures in the fuel system the better. What about a hidden switch that just disables the starter?

I did have someone steal diesel out of my car that about it...
For superb security they doing this:
If i am going for a long vacation i usually remove the throttle link that attaches to the injector pump so the fastest speed that they can o is 5 mph and cant climb hills , that should get the thieves to loose desire to steal my 300SD

I have an old 220D, and I have a standing offer to all my friends... Dinner at the place of your choice IF you can start the car, let alone steal it. For those familiar with this car, it has a manual pump shut off controlled by the old pull knob on the dash, which when pulled a little further out, heated the glowplugs, and pulled all the way out starts the car. yeah.... Like I said.. hahaha
