Yup all Steve's fault I'm hooked up with these things. We've been swapping sea stores for a while before he got into these. He knows I'm into the Keep It Simple Stupid school of mechanics so he shows up one day with a 240D. I thought sheesh what'da ya want a yuppie over engineered over priced car for? Well it took awhile and I saw the light on how simple and reliable the 240D's are so not long later I'm on a train heading to Oregon to pick up a 77 240D.

It does not surprise me you had to go to Oregon to get that one.. it looks like he has cornered the market in Washington and Western Canada....

If I ever have trouble with my stock starter switch I will direct wire the starter to a hidden switch... that way even if they get the lock mechanism compromised it will still not start without a lot of searching under the hood . Every little obstacle helps the chance of them giving up ...

MB Diesel Kill "Antitheft"..

Hello Everyone
MB Diesel Kill "Antitheft".
Note:
If you have a secondary pump underbody or in the fuel tank this system will not work.

Install a three way T in the fuel suction line, the tap leg must point at the ground to aid sucking air when valve is open.
Tap line must be as large or larger than fuel line.

Route the atmospheric/suction end of the air feed/bleed valve tube into the air intake filter housing; this covers the sucking hissing if a thief steals the car.

Location of the valve is a personal/security matter.

I have mounted the valve in the passenger compartment, under hood and in trunk.

I am working on the other system now. RE: a secondary pump underbody or in the fuel tank.
I have seen far too many altered systems to trust that someone may not have a booster pump added.

Ah, actually there is something here folks are missing. I discovered this when friends of ours came home and found a robbery in progress. You see the thieves needed an OLD car which was easy to hot-wire, versus newer cars, which they were using as their get-away vehicle. That, or they snatch a new one with the keys in it. In this case the 70's toyota they left behind was picked up later by the very happy university student. The cops told me they usually find them later afire in the hills... So the kid was lucky, also he didn't need a key to start it anymore, just ground the wires together.

I used the exact method you have outlined for my "kill switch". I used a 12V solenoid valve (normally closed) and ran the wires to a micro switch in back of my ash tray. Close the ash tray and it quits running in less than a minute. Close the ash tray while parking. Remove the ash tray when Mom drives it, eh?

ROFLMAO! Greg's car NEVER leaves the farm. There's slim chance of it ever getting stolen.

"Greg's car NEVER leaves the farm"

It all depends on the point of view... I see that as " Being a SITTING DUCK ".

I was planning to mount a .357 inside the dash pointed directly back at the driver's position - with a solenoid on the trigger. Thief gets in and trys to start the car without throwing the hidden switch - BLAM!!!!

But sometimes I'm in a forgetful rush in the morning.........

I would tend to think that the W115's and older diesel cars would be the most difficult to steal. Most people have no clue what the procedure is to start them. I would think that most thieves in a hurry would try to start it by turning the forced key only to have it sit there with them wondering why it won't start.

Illegal? Hmmph. Well, so much for the idea about shotgun shells under the seat - pointed up. You see, you drill really small holes in the brass end and insert electrical firing caps, then you epoxy the brass end of the shell to the seat support crossmember (standing vertically pointed up at the seat), then..........

I would think it is impossible to "hot wire" a diesel. If you by-pass the ignition lock there is still issue of the vaccuum operated shut off valve. Correct me if I am wrong, but unless the ignition lock it'self isn't turned in the right direction the shutoff valve will think you want the engine off.
Also, unless a theif breaks the window, they won't be able to slim jim there way in. As anyone who has had the door panels off knows, the lock mechanism is located in such a way that a slim jim on the outside of the window track won't reach it.
