WW Wiper dalay doesn't work
After driving 2 days and over 1000 miles in constant rain the delay action does not work on my '80 300SD. If turned to position I, the delay position, the wipers run constantly like I had the control in position II which is regular low speed operation.
If I turn the wipers off and immediately turn to the delay position, there is about a 5 second delay until the wipers start, but they continue running with no delay between wipes afterward. Anyone have any idea what the problem could be? Where is the device that controls the delay located? P E H |

Not having dealt with the system myself, I would venture to guess that there's a relay in there somewhere. Maybe the relay's sticking? I'm thinking that as opposed to a switch/wire issue 'cause you mentioned that it does delay at first.
Just a thought...good luck! |

I don't care for the delay on my 300D very much as you can't adjust the delay like you can on most cars. It's either too slow or too fast for what driving conditions are like here in the Pacific NW.
I just can't believe that on that's all they'd put in a car that originally cost $32K, no tilt wheel either. What a bunch of cheap skates.

Sorry to interrupt - The Warden, please check your private messages. Thanks.
Back to your regularly scheduled thread. P E H, there's a wiper interval timer but I don't know where it is in a W116. In a W126 it's in the fuse box. It might say in the owner's manual or one of the images at www.************************. The wiring diagram suggests that it's a 6-post relay. Sixto 95 S420 87 300SDL 83 300SD |
