Just to let you guys know...

I went by a local MB mechanic's shop today and he has some w123 cars he needs to get rid of. Most are diesels, 300's & 240's, but one or two were gassers. Each has something wrong with them but there are many good parts available.

I bought a 1981 240D (broke timing chain) with a 4-speed manual trans for $200. He wants to get rid of some more of these cars (sorry that was the ONLY manual he had) and he doesn't seem to be too high on his prices.

Here is what I offer. If you are interested in some parts then email me at rabbitdiesel@bellsouth.net and I will get back to you at the middle of next week to let you know the prices. I asked if I could put his number on this forum and he asked that I not do that. He is not in the used parts business and doesn't want to be bothered with it . Go figure. He said that he would allow me to come and buy parts if I removed them myself and if I would do it soon. The city is about to impose some kind of tax on him for having all those cars and not being in the salvage business Time seems to be a factor here so let me know and I will do my best to get you the part you are interested in for a good price plus shipping.

P.S. Some things he would probably give away just to get it gone but I will have to charge shipping. Sorry!

Kevin

Man, you should pull the head on the 240D you got and check the pistons, and if they are ok you should rebuild the head and put the motor back together. A $200 240D would be excellent!

I thought about that...

I have a spare 240D head in great shape but the car is rusty. To make matters difficult the $200 car is missing the driveshaft and fuel tank. I have a tank but no driveshaft for a 4-speed manual. Anybody out there have a driveshaft for a 4-speed manual?

Yeah, I've got a driveshaft out of an '81 240D with 4speed trans. Has flexplates and center bearing/mount. I was under the car anyway and stuff was pretty much free -but no good to me for my 300D. You can have it for cost of shipping, just lemme know.

I could use the following:

1. driver's side euro headlight (diesel - the one with the 2 cirlces, not the gas version which is just a big rectangle)
2. the black/chrome trim piece on the driver's door (2 of these if possible)
3. antenna motor and mast (i'll take a non-functioning mast - as long as it's not chopped or anything... new ones are too expensive).

thanks

I am looking for a complete car. I have an engine and tranny from a 1985 300SD that I want to use/

If there are any300D or 300SD cars available that fit the bill, I would be interested.

Thanks

Well...

He has a nice looking 300D that belongs to a customer but the customer is probably going to give the car to him (for a price). The car will not start. It had been sitting for quite some time. I didn't really look to see if there was any rust since the car was not his at teh time. It is a promising looking car. If I can get it then I want it and I will sell you my 240D cheap! I'll even remove the engine and tranny for you if you are interested.
